General procedure: NEt3 (0.57?mL, 4.00?mmol) was added dropwise to a suspension of 3-methoxyphenylacetic acid (0.60?g, 4.00?mmol) and [Ti(eta5-C5H5)2Cl2] (0.50?g, 2.00?mmol) in toluene (50?mL) at room temperature. The reaction mixture colour changed immediately from deep red to orange and was then stirred for 3?h at 80?¡ãC. The mixture was decanted and filtered to remove the triethylammonium chloride salt. The filtrate was then concentrated and cooled to ?30?¡ãC to give orange crystals of the complex which were isolated by filtration., 4442-54-0
